Mubasher: Qatar Navigation (Milaha) announced that it has opened the first phase of Milaha Logistics City, including a 35,000 square-metre warehouse facility dedicated to temperature-controlled cargo.
The first phase is built on an area of 400,000 square meters, according to the company’s statement to the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE).
“The new facility marks Milaha’s entry into cold chain solutions, and will cater to the food industry, pharmaceuticals, and other fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG),” the report added.
The facility, which uses cutting-edge and environmentally friendly technology, is deemed one of the highest in Qatar with 22 meters, which allows more storage per square metres than other existing facilities in the gas-rich nation, the statement added.
“Milaha Logistics City is a significant investment on our part in Qatar’s supply chain infrastructure and, in particular, cold chain capabilities, and we expect it to be a key enabler for logistics growth in Qatar,” Abdulrahman Essa Al Mannai, Milaha’s President and CEO, said.
The new city will help boost Qatar’s position as being a leading maritime and logistics hub, Al Mannai added, giving no further details on the cost of the project.
The project aims at providing Milaha’s clients with state-of-the-art supply chain solutions.
